Almost 20 years ago, Bright Harbor Academy was founded by Pilar Angee. This is what she has to say about the difference between Bright Harbor Academy and the public school system:

I would say that the main differences are that we really care and we want a student to be able to really USE their knowledge, not just pass a test as in the school system. When my children were growing up, I saw the need to get them a real education, which wasn’t being provided by the public school. Whether its recreational drugs, psychiatric drugs, violence, lazy teachers, or any number of reasons you can find in the public school system, the truth of the matter is that our public school systems in the USA have failed our children. It isn’t something that can be wished away.

Something can be done about the problem. It starts with proper education of our next generation with Study Technology™!

Through the use of Study Technology™, I was able to save one of my sons from academic failure and help another of my sons excel beyond belief, to the point of graduating High School at just 13 years old. (See his Testimonial here.)

I find it to be my greatest pleasure to help my students and see the smile and brightness on their faces when they finally reach an understanding of what they are studying.

I hope you take this opportunity to confront the problem of our public school systems and put your child on the right path for a bright academic future.

Study Technology (links to Applied Scholastics article on Study Technology) was researched and developed by American author and educator L. Ron Hubbard, is a set of concepts, principles and strategies that allows a student to overcome barriers to learning any subject.

Study Technology enables individuals to understand and retain information and so be able to effectively apply what they are learning to accomplish things in life.

Applied Scholastics is an international educational organization providing Study Technology, a precise set of learning tools developed by American author and educator L. Ron Hubbard. Established by a group of American educators in 1972 as a nonprofit, tax-exempt public benefit corporation, its purpose is to promote and develop programs of effective education for educators, business trainers, tutors, parents, children—anyone who needs improved study skills to enhance their scholastic, business and personal success.

Bright Harbor Academy is not an accredited private school. We work throughout the school year with a student to create a portfolio, including yearly testing, which is then presented to a certified and state-approved external teacher, who then passes or fails the student based on the work presented.

It is possible, if a student works diligently that they can even pass multiple grades of school in one year.

Bright Harbor Academy works throughout the school year with a student to create a portfolio, including yearly testing, which is then presented to a certified and state-approved external teacher, who then passes or fails the student based on the work presented. Upon completion of the 12th grade, a student is presented with a High School Diploma, NOT a GED.

Because we are not an accredited private school, we currently do not support any scholarships, governmental or otherwise.

Bright Harbor Academy does assign homework for students to take home, however this is normally below what the public school system assigns as homework.

There currently is not a dress code or uniform system set up for Bright Harbor Academy.

Classes start with roll call at 9AM every morning. There is a lunch break at 11:30AM for 30 minutes. After-lunch rollcall is at 12PM and classes go until 3PM.

Tutoring hours can be arranged to best suite your child’s needs and school schedule.

Bright Harbor Academy itself does not offer transportation for students. There are however, several services that can be employed for private transportation to and from school. Give us a call and we can help you find the right solution!

If a student follows the guidelines, this is an occurrence that shouldn’t ever happen. Each situation is treated on an case by case basis, but a few examples that would warrant expulsion are a student arriving late or not coming at all several times throughout the year, a student with repeated misbehavior reports, ANY illegal activity, etc.

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

It is an old idea from money-hungry psychiatrists that students have learning disabilities which need drugs as the “answer.”

Bright Harbor Academy has received students with all sorts of “labels” from the Public School system; even students who were told that they would never be able to learn.

Simply put, Bright Harbor Academy under no circumstances will diagnose, provide medication for, or support the medicating of children with “learning diabilities”.

Find out more by watching this documentary on how the psychiatric drugs prescribed in the public school system harm your child.

Unfortunately, due to limited space, we are not open to accepting every student application we receive.

Repeated misbehavior and misconduct is not tolerated at Bright Harbor Academy. This is simply to ensure the safe and stable environment for all other children in our program.

However, this does not mean that we are not willing to meet your child first, even if you think that he might not be the right fit for our program.

We are most interested in helping children and parents who have are eager to learn and want a better education.

Once a meeting in person is completed, a determination will be made as to the acceptance of the student or not.

There is definitely solutions to this! You can always move to Miami!

However, if this is not a feasible option; we do offer schooling or tutoring over the internet.

Another option is to go to the Applied Scholastics website and see if there are any Applied Scholastics schools in your area that you can take your child to!

Every situation is different. The best place to start is to consult your child’s willingness on being transferred to a new school, or on being tutored. If they are open to it, then you’re halfway there!

Once you have their willingness, please give us a call, send us a text or an e-mail and we will schedule a meeting at the school to go over the next steps.

If you still have a question after reviewing the answers above, please feel free to call, text or send us an e-mail and we would be more than happy to answer all of your questions!
