Developed by L. Ron Hubbard, Study Technology™ is a method of studying that allows a student to fully understand the data they are studying and come to the ability to actually apply it.

Rather than the traditional method of memorizing certain words or phrases and studying “just to pass the test”, Bright Harbor Academy uses Study Technology™ to ensure that a student really understands the material, can think with the information and actually USE it in the real world.

One of the most important pieces of Study Technology™ is understanding words and their definitions. When a student doesn’t understand the meaning of a word, it can stop them from learning the entire the subject.

Think back to a time when you were eager to start learning about something, but suddenly you weren’t interested in it anymore. Were there and words within that subject that you didn’t fully understand?

In Study Technology™, this is called a Barrier To Study. Misunderstood words are the most important Barrier to Study, as missing this one can result in a student literally not wanting to study a subject any longer. In an effort to ensure that a student doesn’t go past any misunderstood words and thereby gaining full understanding of their school work, Bright Harbor Academy encourages students to have full and unrestricted use of dictionaries.
